How we curate.
This directory is run by one person who has spent years living and working out of a backpack, mostly between Chiang Mai and Vienna. It lists what survived, not what sponsored.

Nothing here comes from a top-ten roundup. Every entry was used on the road, or vetted the slow way: reading the policy, testing the signup, asking people who rely on it.

27 of 124 listings carry the APPROVED stamp. It marks the tools we would buy again tomorrow. No fee, listing package, or affiliate rate can buy it.

How this port pays its rent
Some outbound links are affiliate links, labeled at the link. If you sign up through one, the service pays a commission. Your price never changes, and the commission never decides a verdict. This matters most at the Visas, Insurance and Banking counters, where bad advice gets expensive: they follow the same rule as every other counter.

Why we built this directory.

NomadGear is a hand-curated, human-verified directory of the tools and services digital nomads run their lives on: eSIMs and connectivity, travel and health insurance, borderless banking and money transfer, visas and residency, coworking and coliving, gear, cost-of-living data, communities, remote job boards, and software. It currently holds 137 verified listings across 10 categories. It is affiliate-funded and price-neutral: some outbound links pay a commission, none of them change what you pay, and none of them buy a placement.
We built it because searching for the best eSIM, VPN, or travel insurance for nomads returns the same three things: pay-to-play listicles, thin roundups nobody tested, and SEO farms that rank whoever pays the highest commission. From the results page, you cannot tell what is real.
This directory is the counter-move. Every entry is picked by a human, carries the date it was last verified, and loses its place when the service slips. 27 of 137 listings hold the APPROVED stamp, and no fee or affiliate rate can buy it. The honesty is the product.

Q-01What is NomadGear?
NomadGear is a hand-curated directory of 137 verified tools and services for digital nomads, sorted into 10 categories: eSIMs and connectivity, insurance, banking and money transfer, visas and residency, coworking and coliving, gear, cost-of-living data, communities, remote job boards, and software. Every entry is picked and checked by a human, and each listing shows the date it was last verified. It is a working reference built by people who live this way, not a content farm.
Q-02How do you decide what gets listed?
Every candidate is either used on the road by us or vetted the slow way: reading the pricing page and the policy documents, testing the signup, and asking people who rely on the service. Nothing is scraped from other roundups, and a big affiliate payout does not get a weak tool through the door. If we would not recommend it to a friend at the next table, it stays out.
Q-03Do companies pay to be listed or ranked?
No. There is no listing fee, no paid placement, and no way to buy a better position or the APPROVED stamp. Inclusion, ordering, and the stamp are editorial decisions made before any affiliate relationship is considered. Right now 27 of 137 listings carry the stamp, and none of them paid for it.
Q-04How do the affiliate links work, and do they cost me more?
Some outbound links, marked GRANTED, are affiliate links: if you sign up through one, the service pays NomadGear a commission. Your price stays exactly the same; the commission comes out of the company's marketing budget, not your pocket. Every affiliate link is labeled, and the commission never decides a verdict.
Q-05How often are listings verified and updated?
Each listing carries a Verified date showing when a human last checked it, and entries are re-checked on a rolling basis through the year. When a service quietly raises prices, sells out, or stops answering support, it is removed rather than left standing. The directory stays deliberately small so this is actually possible.
